Style Is....Love vs Money

The latest musical effort coming from The Dream, Love vs Money, is a sexy mixture of both. From start to finish, you hear him talking slick, the beat banging in the background ready for the Nightlife and your car stereo. What I like about him is that there's no one else out right now like The Dream - his music is real and appreciated..and not serious enough that you have to think about what he has to say once the song goes off. From each song to the next, he's keeping it 100 from pulling your hair out to begging to be left alone to deal with his heartbreak. And what's a platinum release without Kanye? Walking on the Moon, #3 on the CD, is a futuristic tune forcing you to go into space with The Dream and The Don. The only unnecessary song on the album? The final track, Let Me See the Booty..three words: Lil Jon, Why?

A review of my Fave 5:

5. Walking on the Moon...That's beyond Cloud 9...get there if you can

4. Sweat it Out: "Call Leticia, your beautician...cause your hair is gone need fixin.." Any man that knows he is capable of laying the smackdown and willing to get your girl on the phone to get your hair back right is alright w/me!

3. Rocking That Thang: You already know what this is, and it's not to be played with! You know when you hear him start the song before the beat drop you're on que to get it poppin, Early!

2. Right Side of Your Brain: Everyone has been there..when you're allowing your heart to lead the way you run the risk of getting hurt. You're able to relive your experience listening to this one..this screams gray and white music video, and he might even take the shades off for this one!!

1. Fancy: The name speaks for itself. "Trips to Monaco, designer names from head to toe..." He loves a girl who knows what her fancy is, Six minutes of Sexy..all from the self-proclaimed Haters Hero. Gotta love it.

Shon is...Talking to whomever's listening.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have quite the mouth...some consider it ignorant, some consider it smart, some consider it comedy. People cease to realize that your tongue is quite powerful: it can get you in all types of situations, both good and bad. Although I might say some things that others might not say, I always keep it 100. Some things are worth saying and at other times it's best not to say a word because a comment or reply isn't worth the energy. I live by the thought that you have two ears and one mouth and you should do twice as much listening as you do talking. And just as you have the right to choose what you say, you also have the right to choose what you want to hear.

Nevertheless, when I say certain things people tend to think something has happened that provoked me to say that...sometimes that is the case, and other times I just wanted to express myself in those words. But any of my friends can tell you that I always know what to say at the right time, and when I just need to listen I am capable of doing that as well. Have you ever noticed that the loudest, most talkative person is often the person who doesn't know much? In my opinion it is a distraction from what they lack. I don't have a problem with that, to each their own, but there's a time and a place for everything. If you are unsure of how that may apply to you, perhaps you might want to listen a little more and run your mouth a little less.

Always,

S.

An Addition to the Style Pad: "Shon Is..."

In addition to "Style Is.." posts on the Style Pad, I'm going to also incorporate a secondary type of blog, entitled "Shon Is..". These types of blogs are personal; they relate to my point of view, personal experiences, things that I want to laugh at..simply, all things Shon. As I embrace blogging, I want to cover everything and anything that is worth it to me..so Enjoy It!

Always,

S.

Hello New World.....

Greetings,

Today I decided to start something that I've done personally but not so much for anyone to see. I've posted a few blogs from time to time on MySpace, but since a wise woman told me that she looks forward to what I wrote, I felt it would only be right for me to kick it up a notch and blog my little heart out - about anything and everything that I feel, what I want to share, things that I want the world to know. You know how sometimes you want to go to the highest mountain..or in my case as a city girl, the roof of the tallest building in your immediate area...to profess your feelings? That's what blogging will do for me. I consider myself standing on top of the Sears Tower as I type on my laptop keyboard....no holds barred, no time limits, just Me.

I am a woman of many titles: Daughter, Friend, Sister, Colleague, Entrepreneur, Stylist and now Blogger. I embrace each title separately and with respect. With my new title, I want to make the best of it, and incorporate all things into my life. And those who know me know that I do EVERYTHING with Style. Style is not just about the clothes you wear; it's all about you, in and out. So as I delve into the creation of my blog, aka the 'Style Pad', each post will begin with "Style Is....", and the topic as necessary. There are no limitations, no gray areas..just style as I see it in any area of life: Friendships, Relationships, Fashion..you know, the things that are most important! lol

I want this blog environment to be friendly and entertaining, and I encourage all feedback, tidbits, news and maybe a touch of gossip here and there. Please feel free to comment as you please, share my blog with your friends, the whole nine. Don't make this a one time thing: become a follower, keep coming back for more. You'll always get me, you'll always get a laugh, and above all things, you'll always get Style.

Always, S.
